Learn more about compounded semaglutide, your membership and how medication gets to you.
When combined with a healthy diet and moderate exercise, compounded semaglutide can help reduce your appetite and unhealthy cravings, increase the feeling of fullness after meals, sustain weight reduction, improve blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events.
Semaglutide is a medicine known as a GLP-1 RA. It is used to mimic the hormone GLP-1, which regulates blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release. This helps reduce glucagon secretion and slows gastric emptying — which helps you feel fuller, faster.
The compounded semaglutide that comes with your LIV by WellNow membership is self-administered via subcutaneous injection once weekly. The dosage may vary depending on individual patient factors and response to treatment.

Compounded semaglutide is the generic version of other prescriptions you may have heard of, like Ozempic® and Wegovy®.
Semaglutide is the same active ingredient that comes in Ozempic® and Wegovy®. When it comes in compounded form, that means a pharmacy has slightly altered the formula of the medicine to meet patient needs. Compounded medicines are often the result of a way to meet high demands for a certain product or if a patient needs a more accessible way to take or administer their doses.
You may be eligible for compounded semaglutide if you are 18 years or older and have an initial body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or if you are 18 years or older with an initial body mass index (BMI) of 27 or higher WITH the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition (e.g., high cholesterol or hypertension).

You will not qualify if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, you have a personal or family history of pancreatitis or you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia.
If you are diabetic, we recommend seeking more information with your primary care doctor — brand name semaglutide may be covered by your insurance.
Everyone is different, but studies show you can achieve significant weight loss with compounded semaglutide compared to diet and exercise alone.
According to The STEP 3 Randomized Clinical Trial, semaglutide patients lost an average of 16% body weight.¹

Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation. These symptoms often improve over time as the body adjusts to the medication.
Warnings and Precautions:
Pancreatitis: Semaglutide may increase the risk of pancreatitis. Patients should be monitored for signs and symptoms of pancreatitis, such as persistent severe abdominal pain.
Thyroid C-Cell Tumors: GLP-1 RAs have been associated with an increased risk of thyroid C-cell tumors in rodents. The relevance of this finding to humans is uncertain.
Hypoglycemia: When used in combination with insulin secretagogues or insulin, semaglutide may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.
You will see the best results if you use compounded semaglutide in addition to a healthy diet and increased physical activity.
Everyone is different, therefore resulting in varied results and timelines. Incorporating a healthy lifestyle and exercise into your routine provides a full journey that drives towards the best results.
